well as some of you may know i have been in tennessee doing an internship, but actually live in indianapolis on the south side where all the tornados hit.
they hit my apt complex really bad.
the front buidlings lost the roofs and walls and just about everything.

I live close to Ellettsville, also hit hard. Thirty homes were totally destroyed, and a hundred damaged, half of those are ''not structurally sound''.
On a good note, no serious injuries, and no fatalities, a miricle considering the damage.
i went to a funeral in a church this past weekend.
the first time i have been in a church in 27 years, because of fear instilled by the wtbs.
this was a dear friend of mine, she was well liked, many, many people at the funeral.

I remember going to my great uncles funeral a few years back. He was a long time dub. And the entire service was nothing but chastisment to his non-believing children.... ''become dubs, or die'' was the most of it.
My grandfathers funeral was beautiful. He was a WW2 veteran. Gun salutes, folded flag presentation, and the most wonderful pastor, who played amazing grace, played guitar, and said a great eulogy.
its my birthday and i got some anais anais body mist, a buffy "watchers guide" book, and some angel innocence perfume and shower mousse.. my bf says he will buy me an outfit when i'm better, too,.

i was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.
if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.
one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

How I wish women like you were in my congregation! Nobody said a freaking word to those beaches that beat their babies in our congregation. I have grown alot since then, and I wish one of them would lay a spoon on me now! I really would welcome it!

how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?
was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?

most years, my old congregation would get asked for volunteers to clean and garden our assembly hall.. as you all well may have observed, at such occasions at your hall, all the youngsters would use this oppertunity to show the opposite sex, just what they looked like in their 'civvys' (leisure-wear) !.
i knew one sister that used to make her own clothes and would make this, sort of andy-pandy suit.
she would use some sort of candy-striped bed linen-sort-of-material, usually pastel coloured and make a kind of all-in-one romper-cum-knicker-bocker-pedal-pusher-number?
I went to a very small congregation, and many were very poor. I know alot of the our congregations mothers were encouraged to make clothes instead of buying them, so more could be contibuted to the borg.
There were a few girls who's mom's made them homemade panties. No lie. And they wore them to school. In gym class, they were teased awful. That stigma stuck, and they eventually had to move away to find a mate. Most of them are no longer JW's, and that's good, but I wish they would have had an easier exit..
sister got married back in the summer.

The JW's ''dicipline'' only those they feel will come back into the fold. Unfortunatly, that means if you have family still in, you are worth pressuring. I really think this is true.
I am glad for your post, cause I have thought about this for so long. It is my experience, that the local congregations are kept small, not to be ''cozy'' but so they can keep tabs on whom you are related to, who you love, the most, so they can turn those tables on you, to keep you ''in''.
